Monte Calvo

Monte Calvo is the highest peak in the Gargano. It reaches an altitude of 1065 and has an obvious karst. It owes its name to a completely bare top, surrounded, however, by large and dense forests that cover the slopes and extending for most of the territory of the Parco Nazionale del Gargano. On Bald Mountain are also in addition to beech oak trees and deciduous broadleaf heliophilous such as hornbeam, Carpinella or Maple. Because of its altitude but also because of its exposure to wind the Balkan mountain in winter is subject to frequent snow falls and temperatures drop several degrees below zero. The climate is continental with cold winters and windy summers and mild and sunny.
